We hope you had an excellent weekend!
On Monday we have our office hours. Teachers will be available to support you at 2:30 on Google Meet.
On Fridays we will also have our “Café de Español” with Sra Davalos between 11-12 in order to practice oral Spanish.
We will be having a Google Meets this Friday at 1:30 pm with the whole class.
On Tuesdays & Wednesdays we will have some small group time. You can find your time and group on Google Classroom. Please make sure to come to your Google Meet if you cannot make it please join another group.
If the time does not work just email your teacher at their @educbe.ca account. Some of you will have a different time in comparison to last week.
Every week we will have material for you to go through as well as assignments. You will be able to find them all on Google Classroom. Remember that you need to be respectful and follow the digital citizenship expectations! Please go through the Google Presentation entitled “Grade 4 Weekly Schedule”
You will notice on the “stream” that there is very little you have to go through your classes for the information!
Remember that the work should take approximately 5 hours each week. When you are done with the assignments and you know you have done a good job, you can continue to read on Raz Kids, and do math prodigy for extra practice!

Area & Perimeter:
Please review this presentation. You should go through lessons 3 &4 this week and watch the videos.
You can practice in your notebooks at home. You do NOT need to turn any of this in to your teacher. Please contact your teacher if you are confused and do not understand something. Your teacher can help you understand it better if there is any confusion.
Please do the Area and Perimeter Name Assignment.
In your Math journal, make your name in block letters. Include both your first and last name. Make sure it is nice, neat, and with colours. You need to use the squares in your journal to help you.
Then, on the same page in your notebooks, you need to:
1. Calculate the perimeter of each letter of your name (in centimetres).
2. Calculate the whole perimeter of your name.
3. Calculate the area of each letter of your name (in centimetres squared).
4. Calculate the total area of your name.
BONUS: You can figure out what fraction of your is consonants, and which fraction is vowels and add this.
5. Take a picture, add it as a file and click "turn in" on this assignment page.

English Language Arts:
Post 1: Please write a journal entry about your week. Include what you have been doing,w hat you have been learning, what you have been feeling, what you have been reading. In other words explain what it is like to be a grade 4 student during the covid crisis.
Post 2: This week we will be starting our novel study. We will be listening/reading the novel “Espearnza Rising by Pam Ryan Muñoz.

Every week you will be expected to do a weekly journal entry. You will find the document as an assignment under English Language Arts. The journal has two prompts per week. The first will be a personal response to what you are doing, how you are feeling, and the experiences you are having.
The second post will be a personal reflection to a reading, video, picture, presentation, we will ask you to read, examine, watch, etc. Please re-read through your work and edit to ensure it makes sense and has correct COPS (capitalization, organization, punctuation, and spelling).
This week for the SECOND POST
Please go through the Earth Day Reading Comprehension Assignment. Read the short article on Earth day and then follow the prompts.
You can respond directly on the form. There are 4 sections Section 1: Write your name Section 2 Choose one of the prompts and answer it. 4-6 sentences Section 3: Multiple Choice (you choose the BEST answer) Section 4: Use complete sentences to answer the questions |
Spanish Language Arts:
There are 3 parts to the assignment this week:
A) Go through the Instructions on “Puedes Creerlo/ Can you Believe it”
B) Go to Quizlet and do some of the assignments to practice your Spanish Grammar
C) Complete Elementos del Cuento Document
D) If you have time…Write 5-10 sentences about your week in Spanish in your online Spanish journal.
When you are done your online Spanish journal please hit Turn in. |

By the end of the week please complete the “Pizza Fractions Challenge” and the “Fractions In Real Life Assignment” you will find it under math assignments.
Fractions Pizza Challenge:
Go through all of the slides. Read the directions on the second slide and then include your answer directly on the slides. Once you have answered all the questions, please hit "TURN IN"
Fractions In Real Life Assignment:
Look at the instructions on the Google Docs page "Fractions in real life". You can submit your work on Google Classroom when you are finished by clicking "add file" and uploading your work, then press "turn in".

This week for the SECOND POST Please go through the presentation titled Perspective. After you have read through the presentation, and watched the video, please respond to the prompt at the end in your English Journal.
Make sure you have double checked your work for COPS.
Once you have finished writing make sure to hit "Turn in".
You should write 5-10 sentences per post.
For example, you should write 5-10 sentences about your week and you should write 5-10 sentences about perspective. |
Spanish Language Arts:
In the document titled "Lectura de Noficción" (Non-fiction Reading) you will find information about two tasks you have to do:
A. Record your voice reading a nonfiction book from Raz-Kids (2 to 5 min.)
B. Provide information about the book you read on Raz Kids. Copy and paste the questions from letter B in your document “Mi Diario de Español” and answer them.

Please go through the Fractions Review. You will have two weeks to go through the “Material” and practice. There will be an assignment that is posted on Monday the 13th and it will be due on the 17th in relation to fractions.

This week you will be asked to observe a picture and answer some questions. You can use the vocabulary list and sentence starters to help you answer the questions. You may want to expand your imagination and answer a bonus question (optional).
